Step 2: Pass In-Person Test

After completing an in-person course, a test will be administered, and a food handler card will be emailed to all participants who pass this test.

ONLINE

Step 1: Take the Food Safety Course Online

To complete the food handler safety course online, go to www.statefoodsafety.com and take the Missouri, Cass County online course for $25.00. Any ANSI-approved food safety course is accepted.

Upon completion of the course, a certificate will be issued to the participant.  This certificate must be presented to the Cass County Health Department before a food handler card is issued.

Note: The certificate issued upon course completion is valid for 90 days from the test's completion date. During this period, the certificate serves as a temporary valid food handler’s card, but the course will need to be retaken if the certificate is allowed to expire.

Step 2: Pass Post-Exam Quiz

A short ten question post-exam must be successfully passed before the food handler card is issued. This can be completed in our health department office OR over a scheduled Zoom call online.

In Office

In-person post-exams can be completed at the Cass County Health Department during normal business hours.

Upon passing the course, bring in a copy of the State Food Safety Certificate and photo ID to the Cass County Health Department located at 1411 S Commercial St, Harrisonville, MO 64701.

Over Zoom

Virtual post-exams are offered via Zoom on Wednesdays from 10:00am-11:00am. Registration for virtual post-exams is required at least 48 hours before the exam is administered.
